The Godfather 2018:
Dr. Akinwumi ADESINA, former Nigerian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, was elected 8th President of the African Development Bank on Thursday, May 28, 2015. Succeeding Donald KABERUKA, of Rwanda, he officially took office on September 1, 2015 , in Abidjan.

Casablanca, Morocco, on 20 April 2017. After several months of work, the Africa Road Builders Selection Committee decided on 18 April 2017 to designate Presidents Paul KAGAME and Macky SALL, respectively President of the Republic of Rwanda and President From the Republic of Senegal, to receive the Babacar NDIAYE Trophy Grand Prix at the prestigious ceremony in Ahmedabad, India, on the sidelines of the 52nd Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank.
The Selection Committee, commissioned by the Commissariat General of The Africa Road Builders, worked on the basis of media and expert reports on issues related to roads, transport and sustainable development. The reports used, together with a survey of development journalists, cover the past five years.
SEM. Paul KAGAME was chosen for the order and cleanliness that characterize the roads of the capital Kigali. In this city the roads are not only in good condition, they are of a cleanliness which leaves no one indifferent. The Committee would like to recall that the Rwandan capital was rightly recognized by the United Nations as “the cleanest city in Africa”.
SEM. Macky SALL was chosen for projects such as the TER (Regional Express Train) and the project for the new urban center of Diamniadio, with a motorway whose form and management are already cited as an example. With the new urban pole, the TER which must circulate between the city center of Dakar and Diamniadio has all its meaning.
For each nominee, the Selection Committee welcomes ambitious and concrete projects that have a real impact on the mobility of populations. The Selection Committee appreciates the personal leadership of these two Heads of State and wishes to congratulate them very warmly for their vision and commitment to the people. “Energy and climate change” 23-27 mai 2016 Lusaka, Zambia
The 2016 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank (ADB) will take place from Monday May 23rd to Friday, May 27th, 2016 at Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, Zambia.
This year the theme of the meetings is “Energy and climate change” and will focus on one of the “five priorities” of the Bank, including “Lighting Africa and energizing.” It will also make reference to the New Covenant of the Bank on energy and the main resolutions adopted at the recent UN negotiations on climate change (COP21).
The theme of the 2016 Annual Meetings aligns two of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDO 7 («ensuring access for all too reliable, sustainable and modern, affordable”) and ODD 13 («take urgent action against climate change and its impacts”).
The Annual Meetings of the AfDB is the largest annual event it organizes and largest window on the world. They bring together some 5000 delegates and participants, and include forty official events, in addition to the annual meeting of the Governing Council, which is the fundamental purpose of the Assemblies.
The council of governors of the Bank are composed of the ministers of finance, trade or development of its 54 regional member countries and its 26 non-regional member countries.
Meetings are the essential forum of representatives of governments, business, civil society and the media – in Africa and elsewhere, to discuss the social and economic development of the continent.
